| LT. Phil Garrett USN The Chief Engineer was the last Crew Member off the Stickell at Decommisioning, before being Recommisioned and Renamed HS Kanaris by the Helenic Navy. |
| The US Navy Crew leaves the USS Stickell for the last time July 2 1972 with a certain amount of sadness for they know their ship will never sail the seas again as the United States Ship Stickell DD 888 but also with a certain amount of joy in knowing that a friend would sail her for another twenty plus years. |
